mIRC
Configuration Instructions
1. To chat with us on #restinpeace on
the cyanide-x.net server, you have to start by
downloading mIRC from this site:
http://www.mirc.com. It is
basically free, and you can use it
indefinitely.
After you have
downloaded it, install it. The default
directory would be something like
C:\mIRC\ or C:\Program Files\mIRC\
2. Run mIRC after you've installed it.
You have to start by adding your general
info and choosing which server you are
going to connect to. To do so, go
to the File menu and click "Select
Server" or simply do Alt+E

(Image 1)
3. Then add your data on the "Connect"
section as follows.

(Image 2)
You can put anything you like at the
Full Name field. I just put my nick. On
the Nickname field be sure to put the
nickname you intend to register for use
in our forums. You'll have to follow the
registering your nick steps shown below
at step 9 so we can grant you access to
our private channels.
4. As mIRC doesn't have Cyanide-x listed
on its default list, you have to add
Cyanide-x and its servers to the list.
To do that, you have to click on the
servers part of the Connect menu

(Image 3)
and then click the Add button so you can
add one or more of the Cyanide-x IRC
servers

(Image 4)
Cyanide-x uses the following servers:
mothra.cyanide-x.net using ports
6667,6668,6669,7000,7001,7002
godzilla.cyanide-x.net, IP 166.82.1.7,
using ports
6667,6668,6669,7000,7001,7002
gua.cyanide-x.net IP 67.15.42.60, using
ports 6667,6668,6669,7000,7001,7002
foe.cyanide-x.net IP 83.142.228.237,
using ports
6667,6668,6669,7000,7001,7002
5. After setting up the servers, you can
select one of them by default by
clicking the little sun icon. That would
also connect you to the selected server.
6. However, you may like to configure
some other things that would make life
easier when you connect to our channels.
On the options section check down
Connect on startup and Reconnect on
disconnection as follows

(Image 5)
7. Then click the Perform... button and
add your usual channels so you join
automatically your used channels when
you turn mIRC on.

(Image 6)
You can do the /ns identify PASSWORD
part later on, when you register your
nick and select a password for it.
8. Also it would be a good idea to
mark the checkboxes Auto-join channel on
invite and Rejoin channels on connect

(Image 7)
After doing so, you can return to
Connect Servers and click the Connect To
Server button. (Look at image 2 above)
There you are! You have your mIRC fully
installed and working.
Now it's time to register your nickname.
9. When you register your nick, type in
/ns register PASSWORD E-MAIL.
Substitute the PASSWORD and E-MAIL with
your own. And no, you won't be
getting any extra spam in your e-mail
boxes by providing it. Remember
the password, because it cannot be
recovered.
10. When you log in to IRC you need to
identify your password. You can do it
automatically like I've told you above
or you can type /msg nickserv identify
your_password_goes_here when you enter
Cyanide-x. It's really just
easier, however, to type /ns identify
password.
You can manually enter any channel by
typing /join #channel or just /j
#channel, like /join #restinpeace - for example.
For invite-only channels, you have to type
/cs invite #channel. ChanServ
checks down your nickname at the uop
list of the channel and if it is there,
it grants access to that channel.
11. You can automate both things by
typing the appropriate stuff during the
"Perform..." step noted above.
